CELEBRATING FEMALE DESIGNERS >>

March is the month when we take the time to look back and honor the many achievements of women through history and the vast strides made by women today.

Inline with with recent International Women's Day celebrations and the current Women's History Month, we'd like to reflect on the often-overlooked contributions of women - particularly female designers in our industry.

Let's start with Katherine Norman and Caroline Quaine.

NORMAN & QUAINE >>

Norman & Quaine has been designing residential and commercial furniture for the Australian market for over 30 years.

Katherine Norman and Caroline Quaine founded the company in 1989, opening a showroom in a refurbished warehouse in Surry Hills Sydney. At that time, Norman & Quaine worked exclusively with Woodmark to manufacture a range of simple but timeless products that would be easily customisable to an Architect or Interior Designer's fabric of choice.

The duo developed their furniture to last and since Luxmy acquired Woodmark in 2012, we have re-upholstered countless Norman & Quaine pieces. Luxmy's partnership with Norman & Quaine highlights how beautiful, simple design paired with thoughtful manufacturing and high-quality materials results in furniture that stands the test of time.

The Norman & Quaine pieces are now featured in galleries, restaurants, offices and homes across Australia. Norman & Quaine are the epitome of classic Australian furniture design and Luxmy is proud to have acquired them as part of our own growing Australian design history.
